Amanda will be performing at the Northwest Arkansas Honor Flight on Saturday, October 15.
Honor Flight is a nonprofit organization that provides the opportunity for WWII veterans to travel to Washington D.C. and visit memorials dedicated in their honor. Over 90 Northwest Arkansas veterans will experience this once in a lifetime trip, free of charge, thanks to companies such as ours. Join us as we welcome them home with honor, respect, and excitement. They are scheduled to arrive back at XNA at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 15. The celebration will be very touching with lots of cheering, waving of the United States flags (which will be provided), clapping, hand shaking, and lots and lots of smiling. This is open to the community, and we encourage and welcome everyone to participate in this special event.

“Petals In The Water” from Amanda’s album, “Freedom Tracks,” is offered as a free download through Independence Day through “Tweet It & Get It.”
Amanda’s Mom, Diane, talks about “Petals In The Water:”
“Amanda, went to her room, wrote for about an hour, and came out with this song – completely done. She started singing it, and we started crying. I probably had to hear it 5 times or more before I could get through it without crying. We just couldn’t comprehend how she could come up with such a soul filled, deep song.
“Petals In The Water” was inspired by a friend of Amanda’s who lost her brother less than 2 years ago in the Iraq war. The song reflects how tough the situation was, not just on her friend and her family but, so many other families. It wasn’t until a couple of months ago, when Amanda’s Grandma heard the recording for the first time, that we learned just how real this song was. It turns out that my mom had two cousins that were brothers, between 17-19 yrs old, that died in WWII. Their deaths totally destroyed their father and he basically drank himself to death.
Losing someone in war not only takes the life of a serviceman or woman, it sometimes takes the lives of those left behind. Amanda may not have realized it at the time – in fact, sometimes she says, “I don’t know where the words come from”… but so often her songs are so real. She’s had many people tell her how moving this song has been to them. And yes… grown men do cry too.”
“Petals In The Water” and “Freedom Tracks” are available on iTunes.
